Dr. Jordan’s
research and consulting interests revolve around the changing nature of work under the
impact of the new communication and information technologies and the consequent
transformation of ways of life, societal institutions, and global economies. She is
particularly concerned with the evolution and design of knowledge ecologies and knowledge
cultures that support productive work settings in the society of the
future.
Now
working as an independent Consulting Corporate Anthropologist, Brigitte Jordan has most
recently held appointments as Principal Scientist at the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center
and as Senior Research Scientist at the Institute for Research on Learning. Before
coming to industry, she worked for many years as a university professor, teaching and
doing research on the dynamics of change in the medical systems of developing countries,
especially in the arena of maternal and child health.
A frequent speaker at
international conferences and executive workshops, she is the author of more than 100
scholarly and technical publications. She is a recipient of the prestigious Margaret Mead
Award of the American Anthropological Association and has recently received the
Excellence in Science and Technology Award from the Xerox Corporation for innovative work
in corporate settings.
